29th March @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
An event every 2 weeks that begins at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until 29th March, 2023
This, online CPD course is designed to build the confidence of psychotherapy practitioners who wish to facilitate effective psychotherapy groups. Limited to 10 participants, it will offer a highly participative learning experience within which we will explore key concepts, skills, and practical issues associated with setting up and running therapy groups. Additionally, the course seeks to increase participants’ understanding and application of group theory in relation to common group processes and to challenge the long-held belief in the superiority of individual therapy over the restorative power of groups to help clients overcome alienation and isolation. Ideally, this course (one of two) will foster an ongoing conversation within our professional community that will support the development of a more robust system of resources for ongoing learning about group work.
The course will be held fortnightly on Wednesday evenings from 19:00h to 20:30h. Participants are expected to attend all six sessions, starting 18 January 2023, with subsequent meeting dates on 01 February, 15 February, 01 March, 15 March, and 29 March.
This online course will be held via Zoom. Participants will be required to have their cameras on during each course session, and we ask each person to attend from a private space where others cannot hear the discussions that will occur during the sessions. The course meetings will not be recorded.
