SUMMARY:Transcultural and Intersectional Self-Victoria Baskerville TSTA
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will present a transcultural and intersectional Ego State model considering the influence of transculture and intersectional identity on self and other. The model considers the intersect and interplay between race\, gender\, and other cultural selves\, accounting for the complexity of cultural experience and narrative. Through enquiry of cultural selves and through mapping on an Ego State Model\, we can develop more insight into intersectional identity\, including how privilege and oppression is manifested in self and enacted in the world\, how we may reflect on and locate cultural impasse\, unconscious bias\, generational oppression\, white privilege\, othering\, and power dynamics. \nVictoria will reflect on a dialogue with a colleague JR\, where both were called to name and account for their differences. In this dialogue\, cultural narrative was shared and unique differences and intersectional identities were mapped and discussed. \nParticipants will be invited to consider their transcultural experience and locate their intersectional identity\, thus accounting for power dynamics. \nVictoria Baskerville TSTA\, has been practicing as a Transactional Analyst Psychotherapist\, supervisor\, and trainer for over 20 years\, based in multi-diverse East London. Three years ago she founded TA East London Institute\, which is housed in a library and community building in the heart of the urban community. Integral to the training is difference\, cultural diversity\, and intersectionality\, bringing counselling and psychotherapy into social and political contexts. Victoria is the chair of the Social Engagement Committee for the ITAA\, facilitates a focus group on intersectionality\, and is leading a research project on Inclusivity and Exclusivity in training with a bursary awarded by the UKCP. \n  \nThis workshop is aimed at all fields and all levels.   \nTicket sales will end at noon on 06/July/2022

SUMMARY:The Impact of Sibling Dynamics in our Practice as Psychotherapists and Consultants - Servaas van Beekum
DESCRIPTION:Participants need to bring a photo of themselves as a child that includes their family members: all siblings with or without parents.\nIn this workshop\, I will present insights into the vertical paradigm\, central to Freud’s theoretical framework\, and the reasons why it has become the dominant perspective in psychotherapy\, in consulting and in supervision. I will present the history and development of the horizontal (sibling) perspective and the reasons why it has recently gained traction as an important\, yet often overlooked\, perspective in our clinical work. \nServaas van Beekum is a social scientist with a special interest in analytic\, systemic\, and humanistic approaches in psychotherapy and consulting. He is a past president of both EAA and ITAA and a founding member of international associations for supervision and of associations that study unconscious processes in groups and organizations. He has written over 30 articles and book chapters and was awarded the 2015 Eric Berne Memorial Award for his work to bring back the concept of the unconscious into transactional analysis. He is active as a psychotherapist\, corporate psychologist\, and strategy consultant. After being born\, raised\, educated\, and having worked in Europe\, Servaas moved to Sydney some 20+ years ago\, rebuilding and continuing his practice. Since Covid\, he has moved most of his international teaching and workshopping online. \nThis event is open to all fields and all levels of qualification.  \nTicket sales will end on 22/July/2022 at 12 pm
