SUMMARY:Forming and Leading Psychotherapy Groups: An Introductory Learning Opportunity - Mick Landaiche\, Ph.D.
DESCRIPTION:This\, online CPD course is designed to build the confidence of psychotherapy practitioners who wish to facilitate effective psychotherapy groups.  Limited to 10 participants\, it will offer a highly participative learning experience within which we will explore key concepts\, skills\, and practical issues associated with setting up and running therapy groups.  Additionally\, the course seeks to increase participants’ understanding and application of group theory in relation to common group processes and to challenge the long-held belief in the superiority of individual therapy over the restorative power of groups to help clients overcome alienation and isolation.  Ideally\, this course (one of two) will foster an ongoing conversation within our professional community that will support the development of a more robust system of resources for ongoing learning about group work. \nThe course will be held fortnightly on Wednesday evenings from 19:00h to 20:30h.  Participants are expected to attend all six sessions\, starting 18 January 2023\, with subsequent meeting dates on 01 February\, 15 February\, 01 March\, 15 March\, and 29 March. \nThis online course will be held via Zoom.  Participants will be required to have their cameras on during each course session\, and we ask each person to attend from a private space where others cannot hear the discussions that will occur during the sessions.  The course meetings will not be recorded. \n \n  \nMichel (Mick) Landaiche III\, Ph.D. has practiced for over 30 years as a psychotherapist and group facilitator\, largely from the object relations and family systems perspectives.  He also provides training and supervision for counselors\, therapists\, and organizational consultants in his hometown\, Pittsburgh\, Pennsylvania\, USA\, as well as in Europe.  He is the author of Groups in Transactional Analysis\, Object Relations\, and Family Systems: Studying Ourselves in Collective Life. \nThe courses are open to those from the psychotherapy field and\, as they are already over-subscribed\, are only open to IARTA members. \nCost £150.00

SUMMARY:The Ethics of Self Disclosure – A Panel Discussion With - Ray Little\, Karen Minikin and Carole Shadbolt
DESCRIPTION:Working within a two-person psychology has been the major explorative work in relational psychotherapy\, including Relational Transactional Analysis in recent years. For some therapists sharing their emotional responses was not considered part of the therapeutic relationship and kept apart from it. The therapist’s personal responses were traditionally considered as part of their supervision and personal therapy and it was seen as inappropriate to share these with clients. \nIn the last 30 – 40 years\, there has been growing recognition that as therapists\, our responses\, including our vulnerabilities and fallibilities\, are inevitably evoked and are co-created within the work. Self-disclosure of these phenomena is considered an important aspect in the pursuit of a relational understanding of ourselves and our clients together – moving towards the goal of the transformation of clients’ lives. This change of the therapist’s position in relation to the client is seen to enhance the experience of mutual dialogue and the dynamics of co-regulation and co-creativity. \n  \nThe self-disclosure debate has brought important ethical questions which we will consider in this webinar. Accounting for power dynamics is central to ethical practice\, thus we will consider the following questions; \nWhat are the principles and ethics involved in the therapist’s consideration of whether or not to self-disclose? \nHow do we account for the asymmetry in terms of responsibility for the process? \n  \nIs the permission to be vulnerable a validation of the therapist’s humanity or an open gateway for oppressive practice? \nIs self-disclosure an over-used technique? \nHow might the theories of self-disclosure be used defensively? \n  \n  \nThis workshop is targeted at all qualifications from the psychotherapy field.                \nIARTA members £25 – Non-members £50 \nTickets Sales will end on Friday 17th Feb at 12 noon \n

SUMMARY:Relational Supervision with Carole Shadbolt
DESCRIPTION:This four-session\, online CPD course is designed to enable seasoned therapists and supervisors to have a conversation together and case discussions linked to relational theory and ethics and other various themes that emerge when offering relational TA supervision. \nRelational Transactional Analysis clinical practice draws on the wisdom that tells us no two therapeutic relationships are the same. each is unique to itself and requires a different response and approach. Relational TA Supervision is the same. At its heart is the uniquely formed supervisory relationship\, a kind of supervisory working alliance. \nTogether we will address the themes that can arise for the supervisory pair when working within this frame\, such as the self-authorisation and mutual empowerment of the working pair\, the teach/treat boundary\, stuck places\, anxieties\, mistakes and co- transferences. \nThis online course will be held via Zoom.  Participants will be required to attend each session and have their cameras on during each course session\, and we ask that they attend from a private space where others cannot hear the discussions that will occur during the sessions.  The course meetings will not be recorded. \n \nCarole Shadbolt MSc\, (Psych).CTA TSTA CQSW Dip.App. Soc.Sci Dip Supervision UKCP Registered Psychotherapist. Maintains an independent clinical and supervisory practice\, has authored several articles and is a founder member of The International Association of Relational Transactional Analysis. \n  \n  \nThese workshops are targeted at senior practitioners (PTSTA/TSTA) from the psychotherapy field.\n \nIARTA Members £80 – Non-Members £160 \nTicket sales will end Wednesday February 22nd at 12 noon
