SUMMARY:Soul Murder: a treatable catastrophe? - Paul Williams
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, the subject of soul murder will be discussed. Soul murder is not a diagnosis\, it is a crime. Following on from the work of von Feuerbach (Kaspar Hauser)\, Freud and particularly Leonard Shengold\, not to mention literary examinations of soul murder by Orwell\, Ibsen and others\, Paul Williams will seek to extend some of these ideas in their relationship to trauma and psychosis. Ways of working with the soul murdered individual will be considered. \nPaul Williams trained as a psychoanalyst with The British Psychoanalytical Society where he was a Training Analyst. He won the Rosenfeld Prize for the treatment of severe disturbance. He was Joint Editor-in-Chief\, with Glen Gabbard\, of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis between 2002 and 2007. He worked as a Consultant Psychotherapist in the National Health Service in Belfast\, Northern Ireland\, treating traumatized patients. He now lives and works in private psychoanalytic practice in Northern California. He has published many papers and books on the subject of severe disturbance and psychosis. He recently produced an acclaimed experimental trilogy on severe disturbance seen from the inside: The Fifth Principle (Routledge\, 2010). Scum (Routledge\, 2013)\, The Authority of Tenderness (Routledge 2021). \nThis workshop is open to all qualifications and will focus mainly on the psychotherapy field\, although other fields may find the discussion of interest.  \nThe cost of this workshop tickets £40 \nA recording of the event will be made which you can purchase by signing onto the event\, but please note\, we are only able to issue CPD certificates for those who attend the actual workshop. \nTicket sales will close on Saturday 20th April at 12 noon. \nThe Zoom Link will be sent out to all participants the day before the event.

SUMMARY:What happens when autism is named in the family? - Tess Elliott
DESCRIPTION:This three-session CPD course is designed to offer the opportunity to explore the impact on life when a family member identifies/is identified as autistic. We will open a space for dialogue and exploration to consider the unique impact on each of our personal relationships and lives. We will look at issues of grief\, loss\, and the specter of othering. Using the Relational TA principles and practice I will present a new three-stage developmental model with which to understand autism and its personal meanings: \n• a dawning awareness\n• hiding and shame\n• living in the world \nThese workshops are open to TA practitioners\, either in a personal or closely connected professional capacity. By drawing from personal and clinical examples we will bring life to this model. Please note\, that due to popular demand\, this is a repeated workshop \nParticipants are asked to commit to all three sessions and to have their cameras on.
