SUMMARY:Working relationally with Loss and Grief - Aideen O’Hagan
DESCRIPTION:This two-part workshop explores the universality of loss and grief with an emphasis on theories that have emerged over recent decades. These theories include the Dual Process Model (Stroebe & Schutz 1999) Continuing Bonds\, (Klass\, D Silverman 1996)\, and Darian Leaders’ ( 2009) ideas about mourning. These ‘maps’ are useful to help us navigate our companioning with clients in their grief. Death is part of life\, and we too experience many losses and griefs in our life – this will inform the way that we will work with others. \nWe will explore how we work relationally with our clients in their loss which includes a reinvention and re-connection to what has been lost. From Aideens’ experience with people who are bereaved and her own bereavements\, clients need to be listened to by someone whose mind has examined their own experience of loss and are able to bear witness to the multiple subjective meanings of the client’s experience. We will also look at some of the challenges in the work\, how people may get stuck in their grief\, and how we hold the frame. \nThis two-part workshop will focus mainly on the psychotherapy field\, although other fields may find the discussion of interest.  \nCost – Members£30.00 – Non- members £60.00. \nA recording of the event will be made which you can purchase by signing onto the event\, but please note\, we are only able to issue CPD certificates for those who attend the actual workshop.  \nTicket sales will end Tuesday 30th April at 12 noon \nThe Zoom Link will be sent out to all participants the day before the event. \n

SUMMARY:What happens when autism is named in the family? - Tess Elliott
DESCRIPTION:This three-session CPD course is designed to offer the opportunity to explore the impact on life when a family member identifies/is identified as autistic. We will open a space for dialogue and exploration to consider the unique impact on each of our personal relationships and lives. We will look at issues of grief\, loss\, and the specter of othering. Using the Relational TA principles and practice I will present a new three-stage developmental model with which to understand autism and its personal meanings: \n\na dawning awareness\nhiding and shame\nliving in the world\n\nThese workshops are open to TA practitioners\, either in a personal or closely connected professional capacity.  By drawing from personal and clinical examples we will bring life to this model. Please note\, that due to popular demand\, this is a repeated workshop \nParticipants are asked to commit to all three sessions and to have their cameras on. These sessions will not be recorded to protect confidentiality.\n \nPlaces are limited to 9 so early booking is advised. Cost £45.00 members/ 90.00 non-members. \nTicket sales will end Wednesday 24th April at 12 noon \nThe Zoom Link will be sent out to all participants the day before the event. \n
