Beyond training, theory, and technique, the journey into psychotherapy is marked by a series of profound personal and professional transitions. Across cultures, these moments of transformation have long been understood as rites of passage: archetypal thresholds that reshape identity, deepen understanding, and alter how we relate to ourselves and others.
In this webinar, Giovanni invites participants to explore the rites of passage that accompany the becoming of a psychotherapist. Drawing from archetypal thinking, relational practice, and lived clinical experience, the session will explore the often unspoken transitions that occur as therapists grow into their work, their relational presence, and their professional identity.
Together, participants will reflect on:
- What first called them toward psychotherapy?
- How relational depth develops within therapeutic practice;
- The role of supervision, mentorship, and institutional life in shaping therapeutic identity;
- And the ongoing evolution of the therapist across different stages of professional life.
The webinar will also consider what happens when important developmental passages are interrupted, unsupported, or left incomplete, and how these experiences may continue to influence clinical work, professional confidence, and personal meaning.
Participants will be invited into reflective dialogue to trace their own journeys toward, into, and through psychotherapy, linking past experiences with present questions and future possibilities. The webinar aims to foster greater clarity, vitality, and connection to each participant’s own evolving physis.
Reflective prompts participants may wish to consider include:
- Through what inner call or outer unfolding were you drawn into the path of psychotherapy?
● At what moment did your therapeutic presence deepen into a relational approach, and what awakened it?
● What quiet wisdom is stirring within you today, and in what direction is your growth evolving?
