Nourish: Eating, Shape and Weight Through the Relational Lens – Mandy Atkinson (part 2)
The second and final part of this CPD series.
Focusing on the underlying shame as a foundation and reflecting on existing literature and empirical research, this two-part workshop introduces a relational framework for working with disordered eating.
Eating, body, and weight issues are becoming more and more common and evident in private practice, often as secondary presentations. Existing literature on the therapy of eating and weight focuses on the eating behaviour rather than the issues underlying the behaviour. This workshop runs over two evenings, both of which must be attended. The first introduces the Nourish Framework and the second considers its practical application.
Mandy Atkinson is passionate about eating, shape, and weight. Her work as a psychotherapist and supervisor is informed by b
oth her lived experience, identifying as a ‘fat’ woman, and her clinical experience. As a psychotherapist, she works with clients with a range of eating and weight issues and with eating disorders. She provides relational psychotherapy, supervision, and training on weight and eating. She also undertakes research, writes, and publishes on eating, shape, and weight. Her recent journal article Nourish: A Framework for Nourishing Eating-Disordered Clients Using a Structural and Relational Methodology was published in the Transactional Analysis Journal in April 2023.
These workshops are open to all those who are working with clients. Places are limited and so early booking is advised.
